Harpers Ferry: The Effects of Industrialisation on an Isolated Community

The effects of industrialisation on society can be examined through the changes made to the material culture of those confronting it. Through the use of processual and post-processual methodologies, this poster demonstrates how a re-examination of historical literature and the archaeological record can give added perspective to known events from the historic past at Harpers Ferry. The poster aims to: investigate methods for the integration of historical and archaeological data sets; examine the benefits of alternative methodological approaches for site interpretation; and to detail the interpretation of a particular archaeological assemblage.
