The Australian Archaeological Association is alerting interested parties to a call by the Federal Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Senator Ian Campbell, for submissions on the Dampier Archipelago (Burrup Peninsula) Proposed National Heritage Listing. Following the release of a notice by the Minister, inviting comments on the proposed inclusion of the Dampier Archipelago (including the Burrup Peninsula) on the National Heritage List, the Australian Archaeological Association President, Dr Alistair Paterson, encourages submissions. “A comprehensive study needs to be undertaken to determine its archaeological values—although clearly it is an area of great significance” Dr Paterson said. Submissions must be written and address issues regarding boundaries and management that may arise from such a listing. They must be forwarded by November 28, 2006 and addressed to: Assistant Secretary Heritage Assessment Branch Department of the Environment & Heritage GPO Box 787 CANBERRA ACT 2601 Further details can be found at: http://www.deh.gov.au/cgi-bin/epbc/heritage_ap.pl?list=NHL&name=asstcom&state=WA&limit=9999&text_search=
